Australian Financial Services Industry on the Gold Coast
The Financial Services Council (FSC) Annual Conference 2011, Navigating Change, was held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in August. The closing plenary address this year was presented by Australia’s 25th Prime Minister, the Hon. John Howard AC, SSI, pictured here with CCM Directors Jonathan and Ashley Gordon. CCM has a long association with FSC, having organised their annual conferences for the last 10 years.

34th IAHR World Congress in Brisbane

The 34th IAHR Congress, themed Balance and Uncertainty – Water in a
Changing World, was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition
Centre (BCEC) in July, 2011. This global conference on hydrology and
water engineering was attended by over 800 delegates representing more
than 50 countries. CCM Director Ashley Gordon welcomed the Governor of
Queensland, Her Excellency Penelope Wensley AC, to officially open the
Congress (pictured).

Financial Services Council Annual Conference in Melbourne
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted the FSC’s Annual
Conference in August 2010. The conference was attended by almost 1000
representatives of Australia’s $1.6 trillion financial services
industry. The closing plenary address was given by Australia’s 23rd
Prime Minister, The Hon. Bob Hawke AC, GCL.

34 IGC in China

The 34th International Geological Congress (34th IGC) was the subject of
a major promotion at the China Mining Conference in Tianjin, China in
November 2010. CCM Director Ashley Gordon and CCM’s Beijing-based
representative Rex Chen promoted the congress to geologists and mining
executives from China and the wider Asia region during the conference
and met with an excellent response. Negotiations in Tianjin during the
congress have led to arrangements for a 600 member delegation from China
to attend the 34th IGC in Brisbane.
